Corporate Culture

Many times, i find this “corporate culture” funny. They say that we must talk in English, we must wear formal clothes, and what not. But then, if me and the person whom I'm having a conversation with are comfortable talking in any other language, why should we talk in English? Don't get me wrong. I have no hard feelings against English. It's a lovely language. But then, we should respect our languages, too. Of course, if I'm speaking with a foreign delegate, i will not speak in my native language. I will speak in English because that is the only common language which we share.

If we have to visit France, Japan, China, Germany and some other countries, we have to learn their language and go. They do not compromise on that. This is what we need to learn from these countries. We should try and respect our languages.

I think in this whole thing of copying the West, we have started losing touch with our culture. I see in metropolitan cities that people do not use their mother tongue even at home. They feel it does not fit with the level of so called "sophistication" which they have attained. But then, that is not true.

I know that knowledge of English is very essential in today's world. But that does not mean that we abandon our cultural heritage, our languages.

So friends, lets try and be ourselves, lets be proud to be an Indian!!!
